Trump gets huge endorsement from Pennsylvania steelworkers: ‘It saved all our jobs’

Steelworkers in Pennsylvania have spoken out about their local union’s decision to endorse Donald Trump for president, arguing that the future of the steel industry depends on Trump’s potential victory.

“From the beginning, we were all Democrats,” US Steelworkers 1557 member Glenn Thomas told “Fox & Friends”. “Our couple here are third-generation steelworkers, and we had a business case years ago that our international president, Tom Conway, was fighting the Chinese for dumping. illegal, and when President Trump came in, and ordered those tariffs on the Chinese, I firmly believe that he saved the steel industry, not only in our country, but also in the Mon Valley, where many of us live about 30 years.”

“Steelworkers for Trump,” members of US Steelworkers 1557, presented the former president with a commemorative hard hat on stage during his rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, over the weekend.

“[It was] a once in a lifetime experience. I’m glad I got my members up there, and they saw him,” Vice President Richard Tikey said. “It was like my members for me and meeting Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump saved all our jobs with his tariffs. “

“It was a very good experience. I’m glad that he received … permission,” said pyro house operator Brian Pavlack. “I wanted people to know … that all the steel workers in the Mon Valley belong to President Trump.”

The steelworkers group has made it clear that Trump’s tariffs ultimately saved the industry, their jobs and their livelihoods because of his pro-America policies.

“No. 1 is protecting jobs in our valley,” conservationist Andy Macey said. “I’m a third generation steel worker. I’ve been through that period of work. It’s not fun. I’ve seen three mills close in the valley in the 80s. We have three mills left in the valley. If I want to see incarcerated, and he made a firm commitment when I asked him by the hand, Mr. President, after the election, will you do what you can to keep our Mon Valley working in the steel industry? ‘ He took me by the hand, and he assured me with a handshake that he said, ‘I will do that.’

“It was one of the first things he did when he entered the presidency, was to set those tariffs, and they worked,” he noted.

Meanwhile, former President Trump and the Biden-Harris administration have voiced opposition to the takeover of US Steel by Japan’s Nippon, but other steelworkers have mixed feelings about the potential takeover. .

PEOPLE USING THE PRESIDENT’S PERMISSION, WANT A MEETING WITH HARRIS FIRST, THE PRESIDENT SAYS.

Some workers agree with senior union leaders that the deal should be blocked, rooted out of fear that they could eventually lose their jobs and that the company’s new leadership would not respect their employment agreement.

Others, however, think that Nippon’s commitment to investment could improve their job security and be a positive step for the industry’s longevity.

“If you look at … Nippon Steel’s sales, they want us to be a major player in the world market,” Macey said. “So the workers, our brothers and sisters in the unions, we’re for it. We want that deal… We can’t stress enough to get international, go to the table and meet with them. That’s all. what we ask. at this time; meet them.

“They promise to rebuild,” he continued. “We have a steam mill in our town center that was built in 1938. How do you compete with that, with today’s technology? In the Valley, that’s why we’re here… to advocate for that.”

Co-host Lawrence Jones asked what would happen to steel industry operations if Kamala Harris won the 2024 election.

“I think we’re done,” replied Pavlack. It will be difficult because he came and said that if he is elected as president, he will remove the tariffs. All fees, metal fees, all [kinds] of fees. He called it a tax on the American people, and he’s talking about tariffs, so we need President Trump elected to save our jobs. “

Trump plans to introduce the “Built in America” policy if he wins in November, which will bring many manufacturing jobs back to Pennsylvania and the country as a whole.
